Bantayan Island, north of Cebu mainland, Philippines, has one of several longest natural pristine sand coastlines in the region. To get to Bantayan, you should drive three hours from Cebu City over the scenic north coastal road passing from the towns of Liloan, Compostela, Danao, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, Bogo and before reaching Hagnaya Port in San Remigio. Average budget accommodations in Bantayan cover anything from PhP 600-800 for non-airconditioned cottages to PhP 1300-1500 for air-conditioned cottages. During the Holy Week around March or April the values usually double as local tourists flock towards the island during the long weekend. There are also higher-priced accommodations from PhP 2000 – 5000 such as those invoved with Ogtong Cave and Hoyohoy Villas.
Restaurants inside island are located from the resorts across the coastline or along the street at the back with the beach. You can also drive towards the nearby wet market to sample some local food. While staying in Santa Fe town in Bantayan, you might please take a short thirty minute trip by car to Madridejos town, the northern tip to purchase a lighthouse, an old fort as well as a fishing village.
